Team Building

Team Building has become the biggest part of the outdoor industry, and for good reason.  In business, team activities have been known to increase productivity and morale in the team by incredible amounts.  In the community, team activities contribute towards a better future by providing a healthy appreciation of those around you and help to develop personal, leadership and team skills.  Some examples of the activities available are outlined below.

Physical

team1Retrieve the Code – In this activity the participants absolutely must work together against the clock to retrieve a code.  Simple equipment necessities allow this to be done in any outdoor location with a water supply.  All participants will get a little wet but this just adds to the urgency.

Matrix– We have all done the spider web before; well this is a variation where the group is split in two and work together to achieve a common goal.  This necessitates physical contact which really helps to break down social barriers in any group.

Mental

team2TanagramThis is a jigsaw type of activity where maybe one person will know what to do but the challenge is often bringing the whole group into the activity.

Spinning DiscsA puzzle in which it is essential to find a rhythm and routine and then follow it until you finish the exercise.  A real head melter!

Challenge

Toxic Crash – This is a mass game that can go on for a whole day or can be integrated into other activity days.  The team must assess the situation, find the necessary information, plan the execution, review the first attempt, and then repeat the whole process.  This game is excellent for a team which has already had some experience of team activities.  During this activity team members will utilise the strengths of every member and will find their own weaknesses.

Full day/weekend challenge – A full challenge day or weekend can combine every activity and game, gaining points or clues to lead to success.  Points or clues can be gained through successful completion of each activity or by buying or selling with points or clues.  Time scale of completed activities can also be a factor in awarding points.

In this outline, only a few of the activities or games have been mentioned and only a very brief outline to prevent too much prior knowledge of the solution.  However, if you would like a detailed description of any activity then please ask and we will try to provide what you need.
